Homemade deodorant and toothpaste

So my goal in life(so far) is to make anything and everything! And if I can make it out of good natural products that are better for me and my family than their store bought counter product then even better! So today's Pinterest project is homemade deodorant. Notice I said deodorant NOT antiperspirant. Conventional antiperspirant is bad for you because it contains aluminum and parabens.

It's simple to make and the ingredients necessary should already be a staple in any "green" home. You will need:
5-6 tablespoons coconut oil organic and cold pressed. This had so many uses you need in your home. Like yesterday.
1/4 cup Arrowroot powder/starch- thickens your deodorant.
1/4 cup baking soda
Container- I used a small seasonal butter container that I saved. I save everything in my home that would normally be thrown away. You never know when you might need it!
Essential oils- optional but makes a great addition. I used lavender E.O. But Vanilla would be great too.

Mix well and pour into container. Rub a small dab on your armpits and your done! The whole process literally takes 5 minute and the container should last 2-3 months of daily use.

For the toothpaste I used an old peanutbutter jar.
6 tbl spoons coconut oil
6 tbl spoons baking soda
And 25 drops of peppermint essential oil

Mix really well. I melted the oil slightly in the microwave 10-15 second so make sure it blended well. Then refrigerated to solidify again. Optionally, you can add stevia to your mix to sweeten it but I preferred it without sugar.

I just made it tonight and used it on my teeth and they feel amazing and so fresh! You have got to try this recipe.
